Carrying the Torch of the Blues

DENNIS HERRERA

Dennis Herrera's musical journey began at the age of seven when a gift from his grandmother—his first guitar—ignited a lifelong passion for the blues. Born and raised in San Jose, California, Dennis immersed himself in the rich sounds of rock and roll, R&B, and soul, but his true calling lay in the bedrock of American music: the blues greats.

Herrera undertook a deep study of the genre's foundational masters, drawing influence from Delta, Chicago, Juke Joint, and electric blues pioneers. His musical curriculum includes titans like Muddy Waters, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jimmy Reed, Howlin' Wolf, and B.B. King.

As the guitarist and vocalist for the renowned Dennis Herrera Band (also known as the Dennis Herrera Blues Band), he has produced four principal studio albums, establishing a consistent commitment to both original material and traditional blues music. When not on the golf course, Dennis can be found in the studio, continuously producing new  projects that further cement his reputation as a dedicated carrier of the blues torch.

Dennis was awarded two Blues Hall of Fames’ - Master Blues Artist in 2017 from San Francisco, and Los Angeles.  He has been published in several Blues Magazines and newsletters in the U.S, and international.
